I would be hard-pressed to come up with a guest take-away gift that also serves as entertainment for that guest; at least on the scale of corporate party planning or a wedding gift idea. Sure, we see people attend a painting party in a studio with wine and snacks while folks paint a tree or snowman, and this is a form of take-away while being entertained… But the newest and frankly exploding trend is wedding guest paintings that I craft up in the style of a fashion illustration in watercolors on premium archival papers. I even customize embossing tools to press the date, the couple’s names, or the company logo into the corner below these beautiful portraits of your nearest and dearest. Additionally, I’m quite hilarious and quite the conversationalist, so I tap into my motherhood multi-tasking skills to dive into fun conversations with folks posing to learn their story while I capture them in the paintings. I equate what I do here to “Humans of New York” but with a painting component! In the end, folks come away with gorgeous frameable watercolors sealed in a protective sleeve that will help them bring these special works of art telling the story of the wedding in the shuttle bus ride back to the hotel, safely.
